About

Music educator

First day as an MPhil/PhD at University College London

Music educator

My high school music teachers in the UK inspired me to pursue a music undergraduate degree; my singing teachers inspired me to go one step further to continue with a master’s degree in vocal performance; my mentors at my first teaching job inspired me to ask questions about education. It’s time for me to inspire others.

My research

What I saw and experienced during my second master’s degree (Education in Arts and Cultural Settings) at King’s College London 2016-17 showed me there was so much more than transmitting technical knowledge to learners. This is why I have decided to find out what and how so many others do to bring changes to young people’s lives through music, by looking into music engagement programmes in London.

Scope

Other than instrumental and vocal lessons provided by music hubs, what other programmes are available for young people in London? How do charitable organisations and professional performing arts companies change the lives of young people through music?
