All packed, lots of winter hats in there

It’s been almost 9 months since I first started considering taking advantage of the UCL/Yale exchange scheme. After reaching out to my Yale supervisor Prof E. Anderson in the Sociology Department, his invitation for me to participate in the Urban Ethnography Workshop led to the official application of the exchange programme in London. A big thank you to the UCL doctoral school which granted me a scholarship to take this venture.

As a novice researcher in social science, I am very much looking forward to this opportunity to learn about ethnography, which will be the main methodology of my own research into the social impact of musical engagement programmes in London. Another big thank you to my own supervisor at UCL, Prof G Welch of the Institute of Education, who has been giving me a lot of support and encouragement.

Here I am ready to take part in college life and in person activities since I began my PhD journey in September 2020 due to the pandemic and distant teaching arrangement.

Now what have I forgotten in my packing…
